Thursday Note 14th January 2016

January 14th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this cold week! Our news this week is as follows

  •  Due to the poor weather conditions expected this evening the Clare Primary InterSchools competition will NOT take place this evening. We have rescheduled this quiz to take place on Thurs 4th Feb at 7.30p.m. instead.

  • Can I remind all parents again to take care in the car park especially in the mornings. This morning was very icy and we thank our caretaker Kevin for his hard work and diligence in making sure that a pathway was cleared for the children and parents to access the school. We appreciate the co-operation shown to Kevin on the mornings that the weather is poor. We all want the pupils to be able to get into school in a safe manner.
  • We are currently accepting enrolments for the school year 2016/17 now.  If you have a child that you wish to enrol in Junior Infants for the next school year please contact the school office for an enrolment application form. Also if you know a parent who may not have children in the school yet who wishes to enrol please ask them to contact the office for an enrolment application form as soon as possible.
  • An Internet Safety workshop will take place next Thursday night 21st Jan 2016 here in St. Tola’s from 7.30p.m.-9.30p.m. Please return the booking form to your child”s teacher which we sent out last week. If you have misplaced the form you may also book by contacting the school office.
  • Literacy Lift Off has started this week in 1st class. Ms. Burke, Ms O’ Neill, Ms McGuane/Ms Halliday, Ms. Riordan and Ms. Fitzgerald are all involved in delivering the programme to the pupils. Literacy Lift Off aims to improve pupils’ reading fluency, comprehension, word attack skills, comprehension and writing skills. All the teachers are very pleased with how well the pupils are working and trying their best. Keep up the good work First Class!
  • Pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes will receive training in Sportshall Athletics for the next four weeks starting on Tuesday next. Pupils will need to wear their school tracksuit and proper runners/trainers. This will be a great way for pupils to increase their fitness levels at this time of the year.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
