Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well. Our news this week is as follows

  •  Congratulations to Ms. Noreen Vaughan and her husband John on the birth of her new baby boy Paddy on Friday last. We wish them every joy at this time.

  • The Shannon Credit Union quiz will take place on Saturday 30th January here in St Tolas at 1.30p.m. We will have two quiz teams taking part and we wish them the best of luck.
  • Catholic Schools Week will take place from Sunday 31st Jan- 7th Feb. We will have a few events taking place to mark this week. On Tuesday 2nd Feb pupils from 2nd-6th classes will visit Mary Immaculate church and learn about the various parts of the church and its history. Did you know that Mary Immaculate was built 50 years ago this year? On Wednesday we will have our annual prayer service to give thanks for the grace and blessing of grandparents We welcome our grandparents to this prayer service and it will take place at 11a.m. on Wednesday 3rd Feb. The theme this year for Catholic Schools week is Catholic Schools : Challenged to Proclaim God’s Mercy.
  • On Fri 5th Feb the Parents’ Association will hold a cake sale here in the school at 1p.m. We will send a reminder closer to the date.
  • The workshops on Internet Safety will take place for pupils today for both 3rd and 4th classes and 5th and 6th classes. The workshop for parents on Internet Safety will take place tonight from 7.30p.m. – 9.30p.m.and is open to all parents. Thank you to the Parents’ Association who are funding these workshops.
  • 6th class have been doing a very interesting project this week as part of Science and S.P.H.E entitled Rethink your Drink. They have been investigating how much sugar that various drinks contain. Did you know that a small bottle of Club Orange contains 16 spoons of sugar? They also discovered that the recommended amount of sugar for children is 3 teaspoons a day. Well done 6th class on some very useful research for all of us!!
  • Well done to 1st class who are continuing with Literacy Lift Off. All the teachers involved in delivering this programme have commented on how well the pupils are doing. Keep up the good work 1st Class!
