Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week as we are almost at the end of January. Our news is as follows

  • The closing date for receipt of enrolment application forms for Junior Infants for the school year 2016/17 is Fri 5th February. If you have a child that you wish to enrol for this class please contact the office as soon as possible to register. If you know a family who wish to enrol their child please let them know the closing date.

  • Catholic Schools Week will take place from Sunday 31st Jan- 7th Feb which is next week. On Tuesday 2nd Feb pupils from 2nd-6th classes will visit Mary Immaculate church and learn about the various parts of the church and its history. Did you know that Mary Immaculate was built 50 years ago this year? On Wednesday we will have our annual prayer service to give thanks for the grace and blessing of grandparents. We welcome our grandparents who are available to come to this prayer service and it will take place at 11a.m. on Wednesday 3rd Feb. The theme this year for Catholic Schools week is Catholic Schools: Challenged to Proclaim God’s Mercy.
  • Thank you to the Parents’ Association who funded the Internet safety workshops for pupils from 3rd-6th classes and for parents. We have excellent handouts available for parents with practical hints and tips on keeping both yourself and your child safe online. If you would like a copy of this handout please contact the school office and we are happy to provide you with this.
  • The Parents’ Association are organising a cake sale here in the school on Friday next 5th Feb. Donations of cakes and buns will be gratefully accepted. The cake sale will take place at 1p.m. in the school hall.
  • We wish the pupils in second class who are making their First Confession well. First Confessions will take place next Tuesday evening at 7p.m. in Mary Immaculate Church.
  • The Credit Union quiz will take place next Saturday 30th January at 1.30p.m. here in St. Tolas for the primary schools in Shannon. We will have two teams representing the school and we wish them well. They have been practising their quiz questions during lunchtimes for the past while and have a broad general knowledge. Well done to all involved.
  • Well done 4th Class who made their debut appearance on Operation Transformation last night!!! They have been working hard learning the difficult dance moves for the past 2 weeks and did superb!
