Thursday Note 19th May 2016

May 19th, 2016

19th May 2016,

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week. Our news is as follows

  • Congratulations to our Boys’ Basketball team who represented the school on Tuesday in the quarter finals of the Marian Keane basketball tournament. Unfortunately they did not win as they met a very skilled team in the Gaelscoil from Ennis. However our boys represented St Tolas well as they gave it their all and played in a very sporting manner. Well done Boys! Thank you to Ms. Fitzsimons, Ms Brown and Ms. O’ Neill who gave up their time to coach the boys over the past few weeks and months.

  • 1st-6th classes have been busy over the past few weeks doing their standardised tests in Maths and English. The results of these tests will be included on the end of year report cards.
  • School tours start next week with Senior Infants off to visit The Farmyard in Corofin on Wednesday next. We hope they have a wonderful day and that the weather will be kind to them.
  • We are sending out details in relation to school tracksuits with this week’s newsletter. Prego Menswear stock the school tracksuit and school tie and they are taking orders from now on for the next school year. As per usual the grey jumper/cardigan and grey skirt/pants may be purchased in any department store.
  • On Saturday next First Communion will take place for the pupils in 2nd class in Mary Immaculate Church at 10.30a.m. We are asking pupils to be in the church at 10a.m. as the parish photographer wishes to take a class photo before the ceremony. He will not be available after the ceremony as he has to go to another two Communion ceremonies! We hope that every pupil making First Communion and their families has a lovely memorable day. All the families are invited back to the school for a cup of tea and a sandwich after the ceremony. This is kindly organised by the Parents’ Association and the parents of the pupils in 3rd class.
  • St. Tolas will be closed to pupils on Monday next 23rd May to facilitate a staff in-service day. School will re-open as usual on Tuesday.
  • The mobile farm will visit the school on Friday next 27th May. All classes will be scheduled to visit the farm and learn about the animals.
  • School will be closed from Mon 29th May for mid-term break and re-opens on Tuesday 7th June .

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
