Thursday Note 23rd June 2016

June 24th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week as we come close to the end of the current school year. Our news is as follows

  • We welcome Ms. Vaughan back to school today as she returns from maternity leave. We also say farewell to Ms. Hogan and thank her for all her hard work and dedication in her time here in St. Tola’s. We wish Ms. Hogan all the best for the future.

  • Well done to the pupils in 6th class as they organised and did all the jobs for the end of year School Mass on Tuesday last. Thank you to Ms Halliday who organised the music and all the pupils who sang so beautifully for the Mass.
  • Well done to all the 6th class pupils who had their graduation ceremony on Tuesday also. As these pupils leave St. Tola’s next week we wish them well. We thank them and their parents for their hard work and support over their time here in St Tola’s. We will be keeping an eye on their progress over the next few years and have every confidence that they will do themselves and their families proud.
  • School reports were posted to all families on Tuesday last. If you have any question or query in relation to the school reports your child’s teacher would be happy to discuss this with you. It might be a good idea to make an appointment so that the teacher will be free to talk to you as these last weeks are very busy.
  • We are accepting payment for school books for the next school year. If it suited you to pay now the school office will be open until 8th July up to 3p.m. each day.
  • Next Monday we will be holding our annual Odd Sock Day. Pupils and staff may wear odd socks to school on that day if they wish. Pupils can design their socks in any way also if they choose. We would ask that if you are taking part that you would make a contribution of €2 and all money raised will go to the Children’s Orphanage in Goradiche. This is a way for children to help children directly. Our former SNA Joanne O’ Sullivan is volunteering in the orphanage over the summer and every single cent raised will go directly to benefit the children there.
  • As we come to the end of the year you may well have a clear out of old uniforms that no longer fit or are no longer needed. We would be delighted to get these uniforms as it is handy to have a stock here in case children need to change if they get wet in the winter etc. All donations of uniforms gratefully accepted.
  • We are in the middle of our Quizbrain semi-finals this week. 21 pupils from 3rd-6th classes have qualified for the semi-final and the top five will go through to the final of Quizbrain. This will take place on Wednesday next at 1p.m. We wish all our semi-finalists well.
  • School will close for the summer holidays next Thursday 30th June at 12p,m. I would like to thank all staff for their hard work and dedication over the last school year. I wish all pupils, parents/guardians and staff a good summer and keep safe. Enjoy the break.
  • Due to the bad weather unfortunately ‘Sports For All Day’ has had to be postponed till Monday next, 27th Fingers crossed Monday will be much kinder weather wise for us!

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
