1st Class School Tour 2016

June 20th, 2016

First Class went on their school tour on Thursday the 9th of June to the Burren Nature Sanctuary.

On arrival, we had a snack and then left our bags in a tepee and went for a walk.   Our first stop was to meet the goat and each child got to feed the kid with a bottle of milk.  After that we met the rabbits.  Each child got to hold a rabbit which they were very excited about.  The children then fed the ponies.  While some children were reluctant at first most put out their hand and fed them.

We walked on to the fairy forest where we had to be very quiet so as not to disturb the fairies.  We saw Queen Kate’s house, the tooth fairy’s house and the doctor’s house.  We learnt a lot about the fairies.  Lucas wrote a note to the fairy so this was posted in the post box.

We continued on our walk and our guide was very impressed with how well behaved the children were and how they respected the rules of the Burren by staying on the path and not picking any flowers.

Half way round we stopped off for a drink in an old wagon.  The children discovered a fairy door there also.

At the end of the walk we were shown rubbish they have caged in and left on the ground. They are experimenting how long it will take for each of the items to disintegrate.

We returned to the tepee for a much needed lunch.

After lunch the children played in the outside playground and they had so much fun.  They especially loved the slide.

They were divided into two groups, half played inside and half played outside.  After half an hour they swapped.  The children had so much fun playing together and it was a delight to see.

Thirty tired children returned to the bus after having a great day.

The children were a joy to bring on tour as they were all so well behaved and respectful.

5th Class School Tour 2016

June 20th, 2016

On June 16th, 5th class travelled to Galway for their school tour. We had to leave nice and early but that didn’t stop the bus journey being a lively one! Firstly, we went to Pure Skill. We broke into small groups and we all got to take part in different sport activities. Each had its own challenges and we got points if we were successful. We played Gaelic football, hurling, rugby, soccer, cricket, baseball, tennis, golf and basketball. It was good fun and we were all good in at least one sport!! For lunch, we got pizza, goujons and wedges…they were scrumptious! We left Pure Skill and visited the museum down by the Spanish Arch. There were some cool things to play with in the Science section. When we were walking back to our bus, we met a group of people at a pedestrian crossing who were celebrating a birthday so we all sang her Happy Birthday!! The birthday girl is sure to remember 5th class from St Tolas! We broke the bus journey home with a stop at a shop. Our healthy eating policy went down the drain!! We had a great day!!
