Thursday Note 15th September

September 15th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week. Our news is as follows:

  •  It has come to our attention that some pupils are returning to school after the school day if they forget a book or a copy. For child safety reasons this is not a safe practise and we cannot allow it to continue. The main door and back gate will be locked from 3pm each day and pupils are not permitted to re-enter the school at any stage in the evening. Teachers may well be in the school but they are working on their planning and may not be aware that a child is in the building. Also our cleaner Rima washes and cleans all the floors every day and these may well be slippy. If your child forgets to bring something home they will have to wait until the next day to get it in school. We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.

  • A meeting for parents of pupils in second class who are making their First Communion this year will take place in St. Aidan’s school tonight at 7.45p.m. It is fine for one parent to attend and the meeting is not for pupils but parents only. There will be a short presentation on the Grow in Love programme being introduced this year for the pupils and parents will also be asked to register their child with the parish for First Communion. Parents of pupils from St. Tolas, Gaelscoil Donncha Rua and St. Aidans will attend.
  • We will be organising a Halloween Fancy Dress table quiz again this year on 27th October. You might like to put the date in your diary. Details will follow closer to the date. If any parent would like to donate a spot prize for a raffle we would be delighted.
  • We will have some pupils from 2nd class to 6th class representing the school at the East Clare Cross Country competition in athletics next Wednesday in Lee’s Rd. in Ennis. Thank you to Ms. Burke and Ms. O’ Neill who have trained the pupils at lunchtime over the past few weeks. We wish the pupils every success.
  • Thank you to everyone involved in the school mass this Tuesday. It was a wonderful ceremony.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald,

Principal
