Thursday Note 29th September 2016

September 30th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

it is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of September already. Our news this week is as follows

  • The Parents’ Association AGM will take place here in the school on Tuesday next 4th Oct at 7.30p.m. All parents are welcome to attend as once you have a child enrolled in the school you are automatically a member of the Parents’ Association. This committee has done fantastic work in raising funds for the school and your help and support would be greatly appreciated.

  • The enrolment Mass for pupils in 2nd class who are making their Communion next May takes place on Sunday next at 11a.m. Mass in Mary Immaculate Church. Pupils are asked to be seated by 10.45a.m. and there will be seats available for them and their families at the front of the church. Pupils are asked to wear their school uniform ( not tracksuit).
  • We will be holding a clothes recycling drive here at the school. As we head into autumn you might like to tidy out the wardrobes and presses. Please see info on the back of this note in relation to what items will be accepted. You can drop bags of clothing into the school on or before Tues morning, 11th October as the recycling company will be collecting our bags at 9.30am on that day.
  • Our boys’ and girls’ football teams are currently in training for the upcoming competition through Cumann na mBunscol. We wish the teams well. Thank you to Ms. Vaughan, Ms. Hehir and Ms. Burke who are giving up their time at lunch to train the teams.
  • In conjunction with Clare Family Learning Project we are offering English language classes to parents here in the school starting on Tuesday next 4th Oct. These classes will take place every Tuesday from 9a.m.-11a.m. and they are free of charge. If you know a parent whose first language is not English and would benefit from these classes please let them know and encourage them to come along.
  • Just a reminder that we operate a healthy lunch policy here in the school. Crisps, fizzy drinks and sweets are not permitted. A roll/wrap/sandwich with a healthy filling is a nutritious lunch for a child. They should also have a portion of fruit/veg with their lunch. While we do allow a treat on Friday it should be a small treat such as a small biscuit bar. We appreciate your co-operation in this as we all want the pupils to be able to concentrate and learn and healthy nutrition plays a role in this.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
