Thursday Note 19th January 2017

January 19th, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week . Our news is as follows

  • Tola’s will have two teams taking part tonight in the Clare Primary Schools Quiz which takes place here in the school at 7.30p.m. Our team members are Matthew McLoughlin O’ Sullivan, Maia Marren O’ Callaghan, Ellie Scilly, Wahibah Rizvi, Amy Roche and Christopher Meaney with Sean Guilfoyle as our sub. We wish them all well.

  • Catholic Schools Week takes place from 29th Jan-5th Feb. As part of this celebration we have held a prayer service to give thanks for the gift of Grandparents for the past number of years. This will take place this year on Thursday 2nd Feb at 11a.m. here in the school. If your child’s grandparents are able to attend they are most welcome. If they cannot attend we will still remember those that are not with us and those that have passed away. You may want to put this date in your diary.
  • Pupils in 3rd/4th classes and 5th/6th classes took part in an anti-bullying workshop here in the school yesterday. As part of this workshop pupils learnt about keeping safe while online. It is a good idea for parents to keep an eye on games/apps/websites that their children are using.
  • I have noticed that a few pupils are arriving at school a few minutes late on a regular basis. School starts at 9a.m.sharp. It can be disruptive if pupils arrive in late and also your child is missing out on getting in and settled on time. We understand that everyone can have a bad morning and can arrive late on occasion but for some pupils it is becoming a habit to be late on a regular basis. We would appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
  • As you are aware we have been a Green School for a number of years. This year we are working on the theme Global Citizenship – Energy Saving. As part of this programme we are looking at ways that we can cut down on energy consumption and waste generated. To that end we felt that printing out our weekly Thursday note in such large quantities was adding to our use of energy. Therefore we would ask that all families receive the newsletter by email. If you do not already receive it by email please fill in the slip below with your email address. The newsletter can also be accessed via our school website www.tolasns.com and it will be posted online every Thursday. If there are some families who would still like a hard copy please contact the school office to arrange this. We will send text reminders about the newsletter on Thursdays for the first few weeks to remind you to check your email.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
