Spar 5-a-side Soccer

April 6th, 2017

On Tuesday, our boys and girls went to Lees Road to take part in the Spar 5-a-side soccer tournament.

Our girls team played two well fought draws against Kilmurry NS and Clonmoney NS before meeting a very strong Scoil Chríost Rí team. Ms Hogan pulled off a master stroke on the line by pushing Enya up front late in the 1st two games, bagging herself the equaliser in both matches. We finished in 2nd place but unfortunately only one team qualified for the final.

Our boy’s team had convincing victories over Clonmoney NS, Mol an Óige and Scoil Chríost Rí. We scored eight goals and only conceded two in return. This ensured we topped our group and qualified for the final against Barefield NS. Despite playing the better soccer from the off, we were caught out at the back and conceded an unfortunate goal. We piled on the pressure but our formidable force met an unmovable object in the Barefield goalkeeper, before bowing out on a  scoreline of 1-0.

We had a great day and even found time for a snap with the Oscar Traynor trophy and Clare goalkeeper Barry Ryan.

Junior Achievement 5th Class

April 6th, 2017

5th class were delighted to welcome David Moloney from SES in Shannon to our classroom over the last month to teach us some things about STEM skills, businesses, job interviews and different resources including man-made, natural and human resources. David’s lessons were very informative and we got to play games each week and learn lots of new things. We’d like to thank David for volunteering his time to us and for the sweets on the last day especially!!

Group Balances

April 6th, 2017

5th class had good fun working on co-operative games and relying on trust to work together. One challenge we completed was to sit down on a chair each and then to use each others bodies to keep ourselves balanced while the chairs were taken away one by one.  A couple of groups even managed to move around the room together…it may need more practise!!
