Thursday Note 16th November 2017

November 16th, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you are well this week as the evenings get darker. Our news is as follows

  • Thank you to all the parents/guardians who attended our parent/teacher meetings this week. If you ever have a worry or concern in relation to your child at any stage of the year your child’s class teacher will be happy to meet with you. It is a good idea to make an appointment so that the teacher will be available to meet with you.

  • 5th and 6th class went to St Caimin’s yesterday to take part in a science quiz as part of Science week. The children had a lovely time and everyone got a little gift. Two of the St. Tolas’ teams tied for 3rd place. Well done to all!!
  • 3rd and 4th classes went to a football blitz in Wolfe Tones GAA yesterday also. They were blessed with the day as it turned out to be lovely. All the children got to participate in three mini games with pupils from other schools in Shannon. Well done 3rd and 4th classes!
  • Thank you to the many parents who have ordered calendars for Christmas as organised by our Parents’ Association. We kindly request that the orders are in by tomorrow Friday to allow for a fast turn around on printing etc. and to ensure that you have them before Christmas. They are great value at only €3 each. They will make a great gift for all those difficult to buy for people!
  • We will be holding our Christmas concerts on Wednesday 20th December from 9.30a.m.to 12.30p.m. approx. We will have more exact times for the various classes closer to the date. Also we will hold our annual Carol service on Friday 22nd Dec at 10a.m. You may wish to mark those dates in your diary.
  • The pupils in 2nd Class who are making their First Communion next April have a Communion Mass on Sunday next at 11a.m. in Mary Immaculate Church. Pupils must wear their St. Tola’s uniform to this Mass. Fr. Arnie has requested that parents stay back for a few minutes after Mass as he did not get an opportunity to meet with you at the information evening earlier this year.
  • We are now accepting enrolment applications for Junior Infants for September 2018. If you have a child due to start school next year or if you know someone who has a child due to start please ask for an enrolment application form from the school office at your earliest convenience. We have received a number of applications already.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
