Thursday Note 26th April 2018

April 26th, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week as we come to the end of April. Our news this week is as follows

  •  We wish the boys and girls in 2nd class who are making their First Communion this Saturday in Mary Immaculate Church at 11a.m. every good wish. We hope that you and your families have a lovely day and create positive memories that will last. Thank you to the parents in 3rd class and the Parents’ Association who are organising a small get together for the Communion children and their families here in the school after the ceremony. If you have cakes/buns to donate they can be dropped into the school tomorrow morning or after school tomorrow or from 10.30a.m. on Saturday morning.

  • Our girls’ basketball team are playing in the finals of the Marian Keane basketball competition today. They will face some stiff opposition but we wish them all the best.
  • Well done to 6th class who performed in the All Ireland drama competition as Gaeilge in Mullingar on Tuesday last. They did a terrific performance of their play Annie agus Oliver. We are extremely proud of every pupil in 6th class. Thank you to Ms Vaughan for all her hard work over the past few months in preparing and working with her class on this project. Thank you also to Ms. Burke and Joanne who helped with the preparation. The school received a participation trophy for getting to the final. It is a wonderful achievement as the majority of schools who qualified for the All Ireland are Gaelscoileanna or schools from the Gaeltacht.
  • Wolfe Tones camogie club would like to inform parents of their coaching times for girls. Under 6’s are on Wed 4-5p.m. in the Main hall of Shannon Leisure Centre. Under 8s and 10’s – Thursday 6-7p.m. Camogie pitch Under 12’s Tuesday 6-7p.m. Camogie pitch and Under 13’s /14’s Mon and Fri 6-7p.m. camogie pitch. All girls welcome.
  • St. Tolas will be closed to pupils for mid-term break for a week from Mon 7th May and will re-open on Monday 14th May at 9a.m. We hope the weather will be kind to us that week.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
