Thursday Note 28th June

June 28th, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well as we approach the end of the current school year. Our news is as follows

  • On Tuesday last we had the inaugural match between 6th class and the staff of St Tola’s. The chosen sport was Mini-Olympic handball and it was a very close contest. 6th class battled hard throughout the match which was played in very hot conditions. The final score was 4-3 with the staff just about coming out on top. Well done to all. Thank you to the other classes who gave great encouragement to both teams. Thank you also to the members of the Parents Association who came in and provided a drink for all pupils and all staff. It was greatly appreciated.

  • Our Quizbrain final will take place today at 1p.m. At the time of writing the outcome is not known. Following four preliminary rounds and two semi-finals the top 5 who will go head to head in the final are Gavin Connolly, Matthew Dooley, Maia Marren O’ Callaghan, Ellie Scilly ( all 6th class) and Simona Lakatova ( 5th class). Best of luck to all our finalists and congratulations on getting this far.
  • The annual report from the Board of Management is now available to view on the school website at ww.tolasns.com. Thank you to the members of the Board of Management for their support and dedication throughout the school year.
  • We wish Ms. Christine Hogan well as she leaves St. Tola’s to take up a permanent position in St. Aidan’s N.S. in September. Ms. Hogan has been with us for most of the past four years and has always demonstrated great professionalism and dedication to the pupils in her charge.
  • We wish Ms. Erin McGuane well as she leaves us for the next school year to take up an intra-school job sharing position in C.B.S. Ennis. Ms. McGuane will be missed for her kindness, dedication and good humour. We look forward to her return. We also thank Ms. Alicia Nyhan for all her hard work and dedication this year and wish her the very best for the future.
  • We wish Joanne O’ Sullivan all the best as she leaves us at the end of the current school year also. Joanne rejoined the staff of St. Tolas for this year and it was great to have her back with us.  We thank her for her kindness, patience and dedication in her role as an SNA.
  • Thank you to all the pupils who generously made a donation for no uniform day yesterday. The amount raised was €392.39 and all monies raised will go to the children who live in the orphanage in Goradiche. We hope that Joanne who travels there over the summer will bring our best wishes to all the children of Goradiche.
  • Congratulations to all our 6th class pupils who leave us tomorrow. It has been a pleasure to see them mature and develop into fine young men and women who are a credit to themselves, their families and to the school. We wish them well for secondary school. Thank you to their parents who have worked with and supported the school for the benefit of their children.
  • Tola’s will close tomorrow at 12p.m. for the summer holidays. I would like to wish all pupils, parents/guardians and staff members a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer. St. Tola’s will re-open on Wednesday 29th August at 9a.m.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
