Thursday Note 2nd May 2019

May 2nd, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you had an enjoyable Easter break and it was great that we got some nice weather for it. We look forward to our final term of the current school year. Our news this week is as follows

Thank you to all families who have returned Trocaire boxes. If you would like to return a Trocaire box to school tomorrow we can get it to Fr. Arnie or they can be brought to any Mass in Shannon over the weekend.

6th class were invited to visit Axa Partners yesterday as part of their Junior Achievement programme. They got a tour of the facility and also took part in a workshop led by Axa volunteers on entrepreneurship. The pupils were also treated to some lunch. We appreciate the generosity of Axa in giving their time to the pupils in 6th class.

The order forms for school photos went home this week. If you wish to order photos please complete the order form and enclose payment by Thursday 9th May.

Congratulations to all 1st class who recently completed their Write – a –books. These were entered in a competition organised by Clare Education Centre. I am delighted to report that we had three winners from 1st class. Well done to Ruby, Chloe and Daithi. I was fortunate to have a sneak peek at all the books and I was very impressed with the overall standard in 1st class. it was clear to see that every pupil worked hard on this project and tried their best.

2nd class are busy preparing for 1st Communion which takes place on 11th May. The Parents Association would appreciate help from any parents/guardians from 3rd class or any other classes who are free on Sat 11th May from 11a.m.-2p.m. approx. to help with the Communion breakfast here in the school. This is a lovely tradition here in St. Tola’s.

Thank you to the Parents Association who donated €2000 to our yard redevelopment fund today. This money was raised through the cake sales and raffles organised this year and thank you to all parents for their generous support of these events. Our total raised for the yard this year stands at €10,200. We will need in the region of €50,000 so we have made a great start so far.

The school will be closed next Monday 6th May as it is a public holiday. The school will re-open on Tuesday 7th May at 9a.m. I hope that you have an enjoyable long weekend and that the weather is kind to us.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
