Thursday Note 5th May 2022

May 5th, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week. Our news is as follows

  • Congratulations to our boys and girls in 2nd class who made their First Communion last Saturday. They were amazing and looked so well. We hope you and your families had a lovely day celebrating together. A big thank you also to the boys and girls in 2nd class who were not making their First Communion. We appreciate your support for your classmates this year. Thank you to the Parents Association for providing a little treat bag for every pupil in 2nd class to mark the occasion.
  • At lunchtime this week we are playing music in the yard for a little bit of a change. It has been great to see the pupils playing games and making up dances to the music. There have been some fantastic moves – even from some of the staff. Keep it up!
  • Music Generation are offering after school instrumental lessons in groups in St Patrick’s Comprehensive. Lessons cost €100 per term. For more information contact Fiona.mcgrath@lcetb.ie or call 086 0682164
  • Congratulations to the pupils in 1st class who recently completed their own books. Every pupil in 1st class wrote and illustrated their own book. I got the opportunity to read through them last Friday and I was amazed. There were fantastic stories and fact books.  The level of imagination and creativity was unbelievable. I know a lot of work went into producing these books. Well done to everyone in 1st class!
  • Can I appeal to any motorists driving on the Gort Road dropping or collecting pupils to please slow down.  Some of our neighbours have noted that the school traffic can approach the car park at speed and this is very dangerous. There are traffic calming measures on the road to ensure that drivers are observing the speed limit. We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
  • St. Tolas will be closed to pupils on Monday 16th May to facilitate staff inservice training. St. Tolas will re-open on Tuesday 17th May at 9a.m.
  • We wish the boys and girls in 6th class who are making their confirmation every good wish for tomorrow. We hope they enjoy the ceremony and have a wonderful day celebrating with their families. They have worked hard to prepare for the ceremony and we are all very proud of them.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
