October 25th, 2018Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you are well and ready to enjoy our midterm break next week. Our news this week is as follows
- It was a scary day today in St. Tola’s with lots of witches, ghouls and a whole host of Halloween characters at school today. It was lovely to see so many pupils dressed up. We had a spooky Halloween cruinniu where all the classes got a chance to see each other.
Maths Week in Second Class
October 18th, 2018We also worked on Algebra this week, identifying patterns in a sequence of numbers and figuring out fast ways of counting. We learned how to skip count in 2s, 5s, 10s and even 3s so far!!
Thursday Note 18th October 2018
October 18th, 2018Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you are well this week. Our news is as follows
- St. Tola’s N.S. opened to pupils in September 1978 so we are celebrating 40 years this year. To start our celebrations we had a very special photo taken yesterday. All the pupils currently in the school made a giant 40 outside the main door. We then had a drone take a photo and a video of this. Thank you to Bunratty Search and Rescue who took the photo from their drone. We greatly appreciate their help.
Card Games
October 17th, 2018For Maths Week, second class enjoyed learning how to play the card game ‘Lives’ with assistance from Mr. Quinn and the 5th class pupils!! We learned how many cards were in a deck and how many suits in a deck and learned the rules of the game. Pupils in 2nd were split into groups of four.
We also learned to play a game called ‘High/Low’, working on probability. This game also helped us to compare numbers and discuss which numbers are greater than/less than or equal to the number on the card shown. The children are looking forward to playing more card games this week!!
