Thursday Note 11th February 2016

February 11th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week as we head into Spring hopefully! Our news is as follows:

  •   Thank you to the Parents’ Association who organised and ran the cake sale last week. A total of €387 was raised. Thank you to the parents who baked and donated cakes and buns and to the parents who came along to support the cake sale.

  • Rugby training started today for 5th and 6th classes. We hope they enjoy it. We might have the next Paul O’ Connell here in the school!
  • Senior Infants have been busy this week doing some procedural writing on how to make pancakes. We hope they got to eat some Pancakes on Tuesday last also.
  • To mark the start of Lent 2nd-6th classes went to Mary Immaculate Church yesterday for Ash Wednesday.
  • On 24th Feb we are privileged to have the Abbey Theatre here in the school to put on a performance of Mollster, a play based around the events of the 1913 lockout and the 1916 Easter Rising. This play is suitable for 5th and 6th classes only. Clare County Council are helping with some of the cost. The cost to the pupils will be only €3. This experience will help bring the events of 100 years ago to life for the pupils.
  • The pupils from 3rd-6th classes have been continuing with Sportshall Athletics on Tuesdays and at lunchtimes. A boys and girls team to represent St Tola’s will go to Corofin on 23rd February. We wish them well.
  • Faith Friends begins next Tuesday 16th February after school at 2.40pm for pupils in 6th class making their Confirmation.
  • Tola’s will be closed to pupils for mid-term break on Thursday18th February next and Friday 19th February. We hope you all have a good break. School will re-open to pupils on Mon 22nd Feb.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
