Sportshall Athletics March 2019

March 7th, 2019

Following a successful run of lunchtime training with Ms O’Neill, our athletics team from 3rd to 6th Classes enjoyed a fun-filled and active day in Corofin for the annual Sportshall Athletics Tournament.

Our athletes were great sportspeople and represented the school so well. They performed well in all events and impressed us with all their skills. We look forward to developing these skills over the remainder of the year in our PE lessons and during Active Schools Week.

World Book Day 2019

March 7th, 2019

To celebrate World Book Day, 4th and 5th classes joined forces to take part in a quiz all about books!

Each team had to come up with their own team name, with a connection to books. The judges are busy tonight discussing which team gets the bonus points for creativity. It’s a tough task to choose between The Book Worms, Diary of the Best Ones, Busy Book Bees, The Bibles, The Posh Potters, The Gryffindor Group, The School of Magic, The Fantastic Four, The Gangsta Grannies, The Best Bookworms, Hogwarts or the Magic Finger Kids.

Great fun was had and we look forward to the announcement at Cruinniú tomorrow to see which team was victorious!!

Christmas Carol Service 2018

January 7th, 2019

A wonderful carol service was held in the hall on the day of the holidays.  The story of Christmas was shared as well as Christmas traditions from around the world. Children from every nationality in our school shared a Christmas greeting in their native language. Every class performed either a song or a poem also. Thanks to all our families who visited to share the morning with us. We wish our entire school community a special Christmas and every best wish for 2019!!

Staff vs Students 2018

September 5th, 2018

This year saw the start of one of the biggest sporting rivalries in St. Tolas NS history…The Staff vs The Students!! To wrap up a fantastic year for all this years 6th class, they decided to take on the staff in a game of Olympic Handball. 6th class trained very hard for it and got an initial advantage over the staff who were too busy doing end of year reports to train for the big game. In what could only be described as ideal weather conditions, the game kicked off with a hostile and boisterous crowd supporting 6th class. It was also noted there were quite a few heckles when any staff member got their hands on the ball!!

It was real nip-tuck for most of the match but the experience of the staff came through in the end to allow them stumble over the line in a hard fought battle. Great fun was had by all and many thanks to the parents assosciation who provided drinks on the day…teachers have requested oxygen masks for 2019’s game!!
