Halloween Quiz 2016

October 28th, 2016

We had a hugely successful Halloween Quiz last night, Thursday October 27th. We were visited by all kinds of scary ghosts, witches, goblins, scary movie characters, pirates, superheroes, rubberbandits, monkeys, clowns, zombies, dead soldiers, bikers, royalty, minions, dead patients and many many more who stopped the teachers from getting a winks sleep last night from the horrors!! The hall was beautifully decorated by children throughout the school…they really are a talented bunch. Many thanks to all our sponsors and parents who donated spot prizes on the night and to all the teams who participated and those who bought raffle tickets. Congratulations to Sean Guilfoyle and his team who were the overall winners of a highly enjoyable quiz! Check out our photo gallery for pictures of all our visitors and some more scary characters who turned up in school this morning!! Happy Halloween everyone!!

Halloween in 5th Class

October 28th, 2016

We’ve celebrated Halloween old style in 5th class this year. Mr Quinn showed us a game that he played at home in his childhood…many full moons ago!! We had to make a mound of flour on a plate and put a cherry on top. We then took turns cutting away slices of flour. If the cherry fell down while the knife was in your hand, you had to eat the cherry and dunk your head in the flour!! We had great fun playing that and created an awful mess!! We also did some Halloween art which gave us a chance to mix many colours to make eyecatching backgrounds and to work with silhouettes also. We’re all looking forward to our week off from school and hope you all have a SPOOKtacular Halloween break.

Thursday Note 27th October

October 27th, 2016

Dear parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week as we head towards mid-term break. Our news is as follows

  • Thank you to the Order of Malta who provided CPR awareness training to the pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes yesterday. This is an important life skill for everyone and we were delighted that we could avail of this here in the school.

Card Games

October 24th, 2016

5th class have been learning card games since the start of the year and they love playing them on wet breaks when they can’t play outside. To celebrate Maths Week, they visited Ms. O’Neill and 2nd class to show them how to play the game ‘Lives’. 2nd class were very fast learners and great fun was had between all children of both classes.  From watching how quick 2nd class were, 5th class are in genuine fear of being hustled if they’re not careful! As the winter is approaching, 5th hope to learn the old game of 45 in the coming months. Who thought Maths could be so much fun?!!
