Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you had an enjoyable Easter break and we look forward to our final term of this school year. Our news this week is as follows

  • Cycle training for 5th and 6th classes started this week. The pupils will receive five sessions of cycle training covering aspects such as bike safety, rules of the road and basic bike maintenance. The cost to the pupils is €5 while the additional costs are covered by Clare County Council in partnership with the Road Safety Authority.

  • Senior infants will begin Literacy Lift Off next Ms. Kelleher, Ms. Riordan, Ms. O’ Neill, Ms Brown and Ms. Fitzgerald will all work with the pupils during Literacy Lift Off time which will take place Mon to Thurs for the next few weeks. The pupils will work in groups on their reading, word building and writing skills. All the teachers involved are really looking forward to starting Literacy Lift Off.
  • A Mass for pupils making their Confirmation will take place in Mary Immaculate Church on Sunday next at 11a.m. Pupils are asked to be seated by 10.45a.m. and to wear their school uniform.
  • If any family has a Trocaire box to return they can be sent into the school and Fr. Arnie will collect them.
  • The Scholastic Bookfair will take place in the school from today until Tuesday next. Pupils will get a chance to view the books available for sale today and tomorrow with their classes. Books can be bought on Monday and Tuesday next. Infant parents can view and buy books from 1.40p.m.-2.10p.m. Mon and Tuesday while parents of pupils in all other classes can view and buy from 2.40-3.10p.m.
  • Some pupils from 5th and 6th classes will take part in an Interschools FAI 5-a-side tournament next Wednesday in Lee’s Road in Ennis. We wish them well.
  • There will be a clothes recycling collection here in the school on Monday next. Bags of clothes can be left in the hall on Friday evening or Monday morning.
  • Swimming has started for 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes this week. 2nd class have swimming on Tuesdays, 3rd class have swimming on Wednesdays and 4th class have swimming on Thursdays. Swimming is part of the Physical Education curriculum and the Department of Education and Skills require pupils to take part unless there are medical grounds for them to be excused.
  • Please see the booklet from SafeFood on Healthy Lunchboxes sent out today in your child’s bag. There are lovely ideas for healthy lunches for your child.
