Thursday Note 2nd February 2017

February 2nd, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well as we begin a new month. Our news is as follows

  •  We wish our girls’ camogie team well as they will be taking part in an indoor camogie blitz in Cratloe today. Girls from 3rd, 4th and 5th are taking part in this competition.

  • We are celebrating Catholic Schools Week this week. On Tuesday last pupils from 1st-6th class went to Mary Immaculate Church for 9.30a.m. Mass. Fr. Arnie spoke to the pupils after Mass about the new Seomra na Trocaire. Some of the pupils from 6th class then asked the church sacristan, Mary Connelly all about her work. We learned that Mary has been doing this job since 1984! There are some photos available to see of this visit on the Shannon Parish website.
  • Today we will celebrate the gift of our Grandparents with a special prayer service. Every class has decorated the hall with artwork, poems and pictures celebrating the joy that grandparents give us. We look forward to this celebration and will post some photos of this event on the school website www.tolasns.com.
  • On Tuesday next 6th class will take part in the Féile Scoil Dramaíochta in Glór at 10.30a.m. with their Irish play. The pupils have worked very hard on this and we wish them well.
  • Also on Tuesday the pupils in 4th-6th classes who will be attending Peace Proms in UL in March will travel to UL for a practise with the other schools taking part.
  • Shannon Family Resource Centre will host a support group for parents of children with special needs or chronic illnesses. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday next 7th Feb at 10.30a.m. in the Respond Building, Rineanna View, Shannon. For more info contact Regine at 061 707600.
  • Can I remind parents that it is school policy that we do not allow pupils or parents to give out birthday invitations here in the school. This must be done outside school. This is to avoid upset or disappointment for other pupils. We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
