Thursday Note 6th April 2017

April 6th, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are having a good week as we come to our Easter break. Our news is as follows

  • The Parents’ Association have organised an Easter raffle to take place tomorrow Friday 7th April. There will be a prize of a large chocolate bunny for each class. Tickets cost €2 per strip and 3 for €5.

  • Our annual Easter Bonnet parade will also take place tomorrow. If pupils wish they can design and make their own Easter bonnet/hat or an Easter tie. It must be made from recycled or found materials at home. Over the past few years we have had some amazing creations made from egg cartons, tin foil, cardboard etc. all found at home. If pupils do not wish to take part that is fine also. The Easter Bonnet parade will be held at 11a.m. tomorrow.
  • As we head towards the end of this term I have noticed that some children are arriving late for school on a regular basis. I would ask that parents and guardians ensure that their child is on time as arriving in even a few minutes late is disruptive for both the child and the class concerned. I hope that for the summer term we will see all pupils in on time.
  • Thank you to all our pupils and parents who supported the Scholastic Bookfair this week. It was our most successful bookfair to date! As a result of this the school will receive books to the value of €978.78. This will greatly add to our stock of books for Accelerated Reading. Thank you to Mr. Quinn who co-ordinated the bookfair and to all staff who helped out.
  • Well done to the pupils in 6th class who took part in the Ceremony of Light on Monday evening last. They did an amazing job and we are all very proud of them. Thank you also to the pupils in 4th and 5th class who came along on the night to sing in the choir. Thank you to Ms. Vaughan, Ms. Halliday and Mary for all their hard work in preparing the pupils for the Ceremony of Light. We are all looking forward to Confirmation on the 20th of May.
  • Just to let you know that all orders for photographs have been sent off. We expect to have the photos after the Easter break and will distribute them as soon as they arrive.
  • Tolas closes tomorrow at 12p.m. for the Easter holidays. We will re-open on Monday 24th April at 9a.m. I hope that you have a lovely break and that the weather is fine so the children can get out and about in the fresh air. Beannachtaí na Cásca daoibh go léir.

 Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
