Thursday Note 18th May 2017

May 18th, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well this week. Our news is as follows

  • On Friday 26th May next we will be holding our sponsored walk here in school at 10a.m.( weather permitting). Sponsorship cards are going home today – one per family. Each card is numbered and must be returned by Thursday next even if it has not been filled. Our Garda permit allows door to door collection but children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult if collecting in this manner. Sponsorship may only be collected from 18th May to 25th May inclusive.

  • On Tuesday next a talk for parents and pupils in 5th class on Relationship and Sexuality education will be held here in the school at 7p.m. Pupils must be accompanied by at least one parent.
  • On Wednesday evening next at 7p.m.we will be holding our annual Induction talk for parents of the new Junior Infants who will be joining us in September.
  • Notes in relation to school tours have been sent home this week in all classes. A huge thank you to our Parents’ Association who have donated €1500 towards the cost of buses for the tours. This has helped us keep the cost of the tours to a minimum. This has been divided evenly between all classes with every class benefitting.
  • On Tuesday next we will have a real treat for the pupils as we have arranged a visit from the Birds of Prey centre. Each class will get a chance to see the birds up close and hopefully we will get the opportunity to see the birds flying also.
  • Also on Tuesday next 6th class will get to visit Supermacs to make their own pizzas. Gabrielis Rapalis won this prize for the class. Well done Gabrielis!
  • Well done to our girls from 3rd-6th class who are part of our Camogie team. They travelled last Tuesday to Meelick to take part the Cumann na mBunscoil competition where they won one match and lost one match. Thank you to Ms. Burke and Ms. Riordan who trained the girls over the last few weeks.
  • On Saturday next pupils from 6th class will make their Confirmation at 2.30p.m. in Mary Immaculate Church. We wish the pupils and their families every blessing and hope that they have a wonderful and memorable day. Hopefully the weather will be kind to them also!
  • Tolas will be closed from Mon 29th May next until Monday 5th June for mid-term break. School will re-open on Tuesday 6th June at 9a.m. for all pupils.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
