Thursday Note 19th May 2022

May 20th, 2022

Dear parents/Guardians,

It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of May. This year is flying by! Our news this week is as follows

  • Thank you to all the parents/guardians who responded to our recent survey in relation to school uniforms. Please see letter attached detailing information on the responses and any changes we are making. Thank you to Ms Hehir who organised and collated this survey.
  • Please make sure that your child has adequate drinks (preferably water) to last them for the school day. As pupils are outside and active they may need two drinks to last them through the school day at this time of year.
  • Standardised testing in English reading and maths has been taking place in 1st-6th classes over the past few weeks. Well done to all the pupils for trying their best and for their great concentration. The results will be on your child’s end of year report.  It is important to remember that with any test it is a snapshot on a given day. Reports will be issued before the end of the school year to give time for you to discuss with your child’s teacher if you have any queries in relation to them.
  • 3rd and 4th classes will attend a blitz in Wolfe Tones tomorrow (weather permitting!!) Pupils will need to wear their school tracksuit top, shorts/tracksuit bottoms, trainers and bring their hurley and helmet if they have one.  They will play a number of games with other schools from the locality also in attendance.
  • 6th class have been working with clay this week in Art. They constructed some scary clay monsters! They have turned out really well and are currently drying out. Well done 6th class!
  • All the Juniors had great fun together at P.E today when they were playing parachute games. There was great excitement as they got to do lots of fun activities with it.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
