Thursday Note 8th June 2017

June 8th, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are well as we settle back into our last month of school this current school year. Our news is as follows

  • Thank you for all the support for our recent sponsored walk. A total of €4065 has been raised to date. If you have sponsorship cards at home please send them in as soon as possible. If you were not able to collect any sponsorship please send in the card anyway as we must account for all cards distributed. A huge thank you to the Parents’ Association who helped out on the day with drinks for all the pupils. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you again for the tremendous support for our sponsored walk.

  • Our end of year school Mass will take place on Thursday 29th June at 11a.m. here in the school hall. The 6th class graduation will take place directly after this. Parents/guardians and family members are welcome to attend. You may want to note this day in your diary.
  • We have some new pupils in 4th class this week. On Tuesday we took delivery of seven eggs in an incubator and I am happy to report that all chicks have now hatched out. They are growing and changing every day and all classes have had a chance to visit them to see how they are getting on. Please keep an eye on the school website for photos.
  • Childrens’ author Olive Mooney is visiting 4th, 5th and 6th classes tomorrow Friday to discuss her novels from The Chronicles of Cadaver College and life as an author. These novels are ghostly, fantasy-based stories and some children got a sneak peak of the first couple of chapters. If you would like to purchase a signed copy of the books, Olive can supply them on the day at a discounted cost of €10. We are looking forward to the visit.
  • School tours have started this week. Senior Infants are gone today to the Old Rectory in Croom. 2nd class are visiting Seedsavers. We hope the weather is kind to them and they have an enjoyable day. On Tuesday next1st Class are off to Share a Dream Limerick and then onto bowling. On Wednesday next Juniors are going to visit Moher Hill Farm while on Thursday 3rd and 4th classes will go to Nevsail in Kilkee.
  • Thank you to all the families who ordered tracksuits last night here in the school. The supplier has informed us that she will be back in the school on Mon 28th August between 7p.m. and 8p.m. when families can pick up their ordered tracksuits and pay any outstanding balances at that stage. We will send a text reminder closer to the time.

Kind regards,

Mary Dunlea Fitzgerald, Principal
