We got a nice surprise this morning when we arrived at school. 3 chicks had hatched from their eggs. 2 were already dry and fluffy and were ready to be moved to their ‘Brooder’.

Just before lunchtime pupils in 4th class got to witness one more chick hatching. 20 minutes later another emerged. We now have 5 hatched chicks!

We were very excited in St Tola’s today as we welcomed 7 fertilized eggs from Inagh Free Range Farm http://hatch4schools.com.The eggs are in  a special incubator for the next few days where they will hatch. So far three of our eggs are in the ‘pipping’ stage, so we expect to have a chick by tomorrow morning.
