Lemon Treats!

February 6th, 2017

6th Class focused on Procedural Writing for January. Last week they all had to write their favourite Lemon recipe and had the option of cooking it also. On Friday we tasted beautiful treats from Lemonade to Lemon Drizzle Cake to Lemon Sponge Cake to name a few! We really enjoyed tasting all the beautiful treats and reading all the fantastic recipes.  Ms. Hehir and Ms. Hackett simply couldn’t decide on a winner!!!!

Izak 9

February 3rd, 2017

We were delighted to welcome Pat Hanrahan, Director of Clare Education Centre, to our school to show us an exciting new Maths resource called Izak 9. Izak 9 consists of 27 cubes in each box which help us to complete a wide range of Maths activities. The focus of Izak 9 is working in teams, discussing different ways of getting the same answer, recognising sequences and patterns and being able to use Maths language more naturally. The children really enjoyed using Izak 9 and hope to get the chance to work with it again. Thanks Pat for joining us!

Grandparents Day 2017

February 3rd, 2017

As part of Catholic School’s Week, we celebrated Grandparents Day in the school on Thursday February 2nd.  We were blown away by the amount of grandparents and parents who came to visit us. Each class did a little performance ranging from poems to songs to messages for our grandparents. It was a lovely event and loads of the children got to have their photo taken with their grandparents. You can see a selection of photos in the slideshow above but you’ll find our full gallery of photos from the day by clicking the following link to our Gallery:  http://tolasns.com/blog/gallery-2016-2017/nggallery/galleries/Grandparents-Day-2017/page/1
